Welcome ‘Huaka‘i’ and ‘Laulima’

Join us in welcoming two new Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft to the Mokulele ‘ohana this summer: ‘Huaka‘i’ and ‘Laulima’. Named for the spirit of travel and working together – Huaka‘i, “journey,” and Laulima, “many hands,” a reminder that it takes all of us – they’re ready to keep Hawai‘i connected, one island hop at a time.

Huaka’i is a Hawaiian word meaning a trip, journey, voyage, or procession, often implying a purposeful or cultural excursion. It is also used to describe ‘a travel experience with a defined purpose!

Laulima is a Hawaiian term meaning ‘many hands’ (lau = many, lima = hands), representing cooperation, teamwork, and community collaboration. It refers to groups working together, often to make work easier or to support one another in achieving a shared goal.
